Christmas knitting finally finished!

February 25th, 2007

I’ve been dragging my feet on two christmas presents that were gifted on the needles and taken back to be finished – socks for my Dad and a shawl for my Mom. With the weekend off and dinner invite from my parents for today, I thought it might be a good idea to finish both.

First up, socks for my Dad, knit in my own Twin Ribs pattern, with Regia on US 1’s. Here’s Dad with the finished socks. He can’t wait to wear them.

Next is the Swallowtail Shawl from Interweave Knits Fall 2006 knit with Misti Alpaca Lace on US 4’s. When the magazine came out, my Mom dropped a big hint that she would love this shawl. Here it is blocking. After dinner today, I blocked it, and left it drying. Once dry, all she has to do is take out the blocking wires, and she’s ready to go. I really enjoyed knitting this pattern and highly recommend it to experienced lace knitters.

And not to be left out, here’s my parents’ dog Daisy, aka Devil Dog. She’s a King Charles Cavalier and the most spoiled but sweetest dog around. She’s a bit tired from running around with my 3 year old twin cousins all afternoon. A good time was had by all.

Your Dad looks so happy with his Christmas socks! I love the shawl – you always make such amazing lace knitting. Devil Dog, huh? Who’s the Marine in your family?
