Going to the frog pond..

March 16th, 2007

Here is where the retro rib stood as of this morning:

I turned the heel and started the gusset. Things were moving right along, and then I noticed this:

How beautiful does this yarn look in stockinette? The rib pattern is ok. But oh the stockinette! So I decided to rip it out and start over with a different pattern. This is where it stands now:

And you’ve got to love spring in New England. This is the view this morning before leaving for work:

And this is the view this afternoon when I got home from work after it has been snowing/sleeting all day:

We’ll see how much more “sneet” we get before it ends tomorrow morning. I’m going to curl up under a warm blanket, with my yarn and needles and search for the perfect pattern for this incredible yarn! It will be something stockinette-based, I’m thinking maybe a little lacy. Tune in tomorrow for the continuing journey of the silky sock yarn.

Oh wow you are so courageous!! You are right though, the yarn does look amazing in stockinette…although I’m kind of bumming right now because I’m doing the Retro Rib socks right now in my new STR club yarn. I hope it looks ok!

I LOVE that blanket! Is that from a book/pattern? I’ve been working on an afghan with some blocks from the Learn to Knit Afghan Book combined with blocks from the 365 stitches a day book.
